Determination of Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons in Environmental Samples With Solid Substrate Room Temperature Phosphorimetry
Filter paper substrate room temperature phosphorimetry has been used to determine the polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). The 50% (V/V) ethanol/water solution of TIAc and Pb(Ac)2 (1:1 mol) was used as the heavy-atom perturber. Nine substrates of commercially available analytical filter paper, glass fiber filter paper and celullose acetate filter were compared for the determination of pyrene. A mixture of six PAHs including fluoranthene, pyrene, benzo(e)pyrene, benzo(a)pyrene, benzo(ghi)perylene and coronene was measured. Pyrene and benzo(a)pyrene in the samples of coal flyash as well as the emission of coal combustion were determined and the results were verified by high-performance liquid chromatography, The lowest detection limit is about 1×10-10～1×10-9g. In addition, the possible ways for improving the sensitivity are discussed.
